A new angel investing organization in the Quad Cities is building out of coffee breaks. Riverbend Angels started in 2017 after a series of entrepreneurial meetups laid the groundwork for a six-county startup community along the Iowa/Illinois border, Clay and Milk reports. Founding Principal Tom Trone said the organization is seeking early-stage companies to invest in, and seven new investors to join the core group of five by the end of 2018. “It’s a network of people with like minds who have a sincere interest in helping seed new ventures in our states,” Trone told Clay and Milk. The organization found roots in Ignite Quad Cities, an entrepreneurial meetup that hosts three events each month in the regional towns that make up the Quad Cities. “The whole point is to make sure we are, as much as possible, letting people know the resources that can help in the region for whatever stage you might be at,” coordinator Julie Forsythe said.
