The leader of a New Jersey-based company granted a medical marijuana manufacturing license in Cedar Rapids expects Iowa to eventually expand the current marijuana program, reports the Cedar Rapids Gazette. “Once Iowa discovers the THC component is not a bad component, but a helpful component, we hope to see these (regulations) open up to include more people for more benefit,” said Kevin Murphy, chief executive officer for Acreage Holdings and owner of Iowa Relief. Last week, Iowa Relief was awarded the second of two state licenses to manufacture medical marijuana, and plans to build a new plant in Cedar Rapids based off of a previous Pennsylvania facility. MedPharm Iowa, based in Des Moines, holds the first license.
