Corey Schmidt, founder of Schmidt Strategic, launched new initiative InnovateDSM on Tuesday for individuals leading innovation in their workplaces. The group will host a monthly speaker series with experts in developing fields, who will speak on the best practices and strategies those companies use when implementing innovative solutions.
“I thought, there’s people want to be more innovative, there’s a lot of people who have minds like mine,” Schmidt said.
“I made the mistake of sitting and waiting for my career or my company to tap me on my shoulder and say, ‘hey, you’re doing a great job,’” he added. “It just took me a while to realize my future was in my own hands.”
Schmidt hosted Tuesday’s event at the Beerhouse in Urbandale, and scheduled the next free session for Aug. 23, with the location pending. RSVPs can be made online.
“You’re helping companies stay relevant, stay current, so you’re protecting their future and helping them have more,” Schmidt said. “If you like challenges, if you like failure, if you like learning and you like experimenting with a little bit of crazy mixed in, you’re going to love the group.”
