Des Moines Area Community College has opened enrollment for its new Facebook and Digital Marketing Certificate. The certificate program is part of Facebook’s initiative to train 1 million people across the U.S. by 2020; the company has partnered with DMACC to arm individuals and small businesses with social media and digital marketing skills. Facebook has made an additional investment to the community by awarding $400 scholarships to the first 20 students to enroll. According to a Facebook survey, 58 percent of Iowa small and medium-size businesses on Facebook say that digital and social media skills are important attributes they look for in job candidates. “This online program will provide a boost to individuals looking to compete for jobs in the digital economy,” said Michael Hoffman, executive director of continuing education at DMACC. “It will also allow business owners to provide a way to upskill their workforce in this new and fast-paced area.” The deadline for enrollment is Oct. 1.
