The Arkansas-based “think and do” tank Heartland Forward announced it has received a Rebuilding Better grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to support entrepreneurship in the heartland region. According to a news release, Heartland Forward will use the grant to develop resources for mayors and community leaders in midsized cities to understand how to help new local entrepreneurs and reduce the barriers they face. “Entrepreneurs deserve to have their voices recognized in policy discussions,” said Jennifer Kelly, program officer, entrepreneurship for the Kauffman Foundation. “The organizations in this portfolio know these entrepreneurs and are active in their communities. They understand how best to engage entrepreneurs in conversations with policymakers at all levels.”
