Cambio, a personal finance startup co-founded by Iowan Justin Dwyer, has been chosen to participate in the Y Combinator, a nationwide startup accelerator based in California’s Silicon Valley. The accelerator program lasts three months and invests $500,000 in every company that participates. According to a news release, Cambio’s platform is aimed at helping the 40 million American adults with credit scores below 600 to rebuild their credit and prevent further financial hardship using “innovative banking data and technology.” “Cambio is mission driven first and foremost,” Dwyer said in the news release. “We all have friends and loved ones struggling daily with the stresses of finances and the cascading impact it has on our relationships and communities. Our technology is designed to walk alongside them as they work to improve their financial situation.” Dwyer is an alumnus of the University of Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center.
