Google announced Tuesday it will invest $350 million at its data center campus in Council Bluffs. As one of Google’s largest data centers, the campus helps power services like Google Cloud, Workspace (including Gmail and Google Docs), Search and Maps, according to a news release. The investment also includes a $250,000 grant to Advance Southwest Iowa Corp., which will support the creation of Council Bluff’s first coworking entrepreneurial hub that will provide entrepreneurs a collaborative space as well as services and resources. “The new investment announced today in the Council Bluffs data center facilities, along with Google’s support of the new coworking hub, will continue to provide a ripple of economic impact throughout our community,” Council Bluffs Mayor Matt Walsh said in a prepared statement. Google has invested more than $5 billion in Iowa since breaking ground on the Council Bluffs campus in 2007.
