The Iowa District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Iowa LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce honored Iowa City-based Caring Hands & More with an SBA Impact Award on Tuesday. Caring Hands & More is an LGBTQ-owned business providing home care, community living support, adult day services and more to individuals and families in the Iowa City area. Bruce Teague founded the business in 2004 following experiences supporting his aunt’s health and household needs and working with Iowa City Hospice. Teague’s community involvement includes serving as the current mayor of Iowa City. According to a news release, the Iowa LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce will also sign the SBA Strategic Alliance Memo, which allows the two organizations to collaborate on initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and provide resources, as well as support networks and support policies that foster a more inclusive and equitable business environment.
