American PCS, an IT support and cybersecurity services provider in the Council Bluffs and Omaha metro area, has announced $50,000 in grant funding to help local nonprofit organizations strengthen their cybersecurity measures. Nonprofits in Iowa or Nebraska are eligible to apply by Aug. 1. The maximum grant available per nonprofit is $4,500. According to a news release, grant recipients will be selected based on the demonstrated need and potential impact of the enhanced cybersecurity measures on their operations. The grant program was implemented after a large nonprofit in Omaha with over 200 employees was recently targeted in a cyberattack. “After several weeks, we understand they are still unable to access their computer systems or email,” said Nate Roane, president and CEO of American PCS, in a prepared statement. “It has been upsetting to hear of their ongoing struggle to recover and it motivated us to help similar organizations prevent such attacks.”
