The Iowa Biotechnology Association has announced that the Ag Startup Engine will offer a $25,000 investment to one company that pitches during IowaBio’s 2025 Iowa Biotech Showcase and Conference (IBSC) Showcase Competition. A panel of judges will select a winner of the showcase to receive $10,000, and Ag Startup Engine will choose the recipient of the $25,000 investment, pending final due diligence. The recipient of the investment may be the same or different from the winner of the overall showcase, a news release said. “Biotech plays a crucial role in the future of agriculture, and [Ag Startup Engine] is excited to back a founder who is driving innovation in this sector,” said Ag Startup Engine Partner Mikayla Mooney in a prepared statement. Applications for the showcase are open now through Jan. 3. The 2025 IBSC event is on March 5 at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny.
