Upvote, an AI-native software company, has announced partnerships with Iowa’s House of Representatives and Governor’s office to use AI-powered tools to streamline the legislative process. Iowa House caucuses and the office of Gov. Kim Reynolds implemented Upvote’s Legible platform to develop, evaluate and publish legislation, starting with the 2025 legislative session, according to a news release. Upvote is a Des Moines-based startup with customers in five states. Co-founders Zach Krawiec and Kasey Clary first met as interns in the Iowa Statehouse. The Legible platform is also licensed by trade associations, corporations, lobbyists and others who work with state legislatures, Krawiec said in the release. Upvote has been a winner or finalist in numerous startup competitions, including Technology Association of Iowa’s Prometheus Awards and the international SXSW Pitch competition in Austin, Texas.
