The Science Center of Iowa (SCI) is opening its newest traveling exhibit, “Artificial Intelligence: Your Mind & The Machine,” on Friday, Jan. 16. The interactive exhibit will be on display through April 26, and is included with general admission. The exhibit breaks down complex concepts into hands-on experiences that introduce what artificial intelligence is, how machines learn and where AI shows up in everyday life. Visitors can explore facial recognition technology, experiment with AI-generated art, and interact with exhibits that compare machine learning to the human brain. “Artificial intelligence touches nearly every part of our lives and raises important questions,” said Curt Simmons, president and CEO of the Science Center of Iowa, in a prepared statement. “Our goal in hosting this exhibit is not to tell people what to think or feel about AI, but to create space for learning, curiosity, and conversation. At SCI, we’re proud to provide a welcoming, neutral environment where visitors can explore what AI is, where it shows up in everyday life, and feel comfortable forming their own perspectives.” Created by the Relayer Group, the exhibit is one of the first major museum exhibitions to focus on the real-world relevance of AI. The exhibit explores applications ranging from virtual assistants and self-driving vehicles to creative tools and data analysis, helping visitors connect emerging technology to familiar experiences.
