An Iowa high school alumni and MIT geneticist will be a featured expert this Sunday on the national news program “60 Minutes” during a segment explaining CRISPR technology. Feng Zhang is a 2000 graduate of Roosevelt High School now working for Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Des Moines Register reports. Zhang and his research team were named as the 2017 recipients of the $500,000 Lemelson-MIT prize for invention. CRISPR is a gene-editing technology that proponents hope may offer cures for a range of diseases.
