Deere & Co. has received 5G licenses in five Iowa and Illinois counties as part of the Federal Communications Commission auction for the Citizens Broadband Radio Service 3.5 GHz spectrum, enabling Deere to accelerate the availability of 5G in its largest manufacturing facilities in North America, the company announced this week. Providing 5G access and private LTE networks will allow Deere to “design a more flexible, nimble and connected facility, creating opportunity for further advancement and greater efficiency that will transform the manufacturing process,” the company said in a statement. Rollout of updated networks is planned for 2022 in Dubuque, three Iowa counties (Polk, Scott and Black Hawk) and Rock Island, Ill.
