The Jacobson Institute for Youth Entrepreneurship at the University of Iowa and the Iowa Department of Education have partnered to provide all Iowa educators access to the BizInnovator Startup curriculum at no cost. BizInnovator Startup is an innovation and entrepreneurship curriculum designed for high school students.

“BizInnovator Startup provides strategies and methods for educators to create a problem and project-based, hands-on, student-centered experiential learning environment,” Dawn Bowlus, Jacobson Institute director, said in a prepared statement. “Students are directly engaged in identifying problems in their community, receive mentorship from local business and industry, and develop entrepreneurial solutions that have the potential to impact the local economy.”

The curriculum also offers online professional development for educators nationwide. Educators who successfully complete the BizInnovator Startup professional development are able to offer students an opportunity to earn three transferable college credits from the University of Iowa. Educators interested in participating can sign up at jacobsoninstitute.org/bizinnovator. For more information, Jacobson Institute director Dawn Bowlus can be reached at dawn-bowlus@uiowa.edu.
