The Iowa Rural Development Council, a public-private statewide nonprofit supporting small towns, has opened registration for the 2024 Iowa Rural Summit. The event is scheduled for April 11-12 at the Gateway Hotel & Conference Center in Ames. Rural communities are invited to bring three-person teams, which has helped generate momentum after previous events, according to a press release. Registration is available for communities and individuals. During a reception on April 11, the recipients of the Rand Fisher Rural Leadership Awards will be recognized. The award recognizes individuals in rural economic and community development, philanthropy, the arts and utilities. Nominations are open until March 15 and can be submitted to Bill Menner at director@iowardc.org with details of why the individual should be nominated.
