Sista Soul Fest, a family-oriented festival working to empower diverse entrepreneurs and bring the community together, will hold its fifth annual event on Aug. 25 at Evelyn K. Davis Park in Des Moines. There will be more than 60 artisans and food vendors as well as a barbecue competition and a fashion show. Sista Soul Fest will also announce this year’s recipients of the We See You Sis Awards that celebrate local women who embody women’s empowerment and inspiration. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to the public. Sista Soul Fest was created by founder Loretta Terrell in 2020. In 2022, the festival expanded to North Carolina.
