Lean Techniques, a technology and management consultancy based in Johnston, announced it has achieved SOC 2 Type II compliance. SOC 2 is a framework developed by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants that reports on the controls a service organization has in place related to security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy. Through the audit process, an independent third-party auditor certifies that an organization’s security controls meet industry standards. “Handling sensitive data requires the highest possible standards – not just for our clients’ benefit, but for the technology industry as a whole,” said Lean Techniques’ Chief Innovation Officer Tim Gifford in a news release. “Our industry can always improve, and by pursuing SOC 2 Type II compliance, we hope to model the way for others in our industry.” Having SOC 2 Type II compliance provides benefits such as proactive measures to significantly reduce the risk of data breaches and disruptions and streamlined processes that mean engagements can start without security audits. To maintain compliance, Lean Techniques continuously monitors its systems for vulnerabilities and threats and regularly trains employees on the latest security practices and data protection laws, the release said.
