As the snow – and snow days – piles higher for Iowa’s school districts, some are asking if technology can be used to make up lost time in the classroom, reports Radio Iowa. State law doesn’t allow that yet, Iowa Department of Education director Ryan Wise said. “The way code is currently written, it does not allow e-learning days to count toward instructional days or instructional hours,” Wise said. State law requires districts to either have 180 days of school or 1,080 hours. Having e-learning count as actual school hours or classroom instruction is still in the development stage, Wise said.
