The Facebook Altoona Data Center has awarded more than $210,000 in grants to Central Iowa area nonprofits and schools as part of Facebook’s Community Action Grant program. Sixteen organizations promoting STEM education and community investment received grants ranging from $3,000 to more than $60,000 — the Southeast Polk Community School District was award $60,928.33 for four different programs serving STEM education and students with disabilities. Other organizations are the Altoona Area Historical Society, the Greater Altoona Community Service Campus, Altoona Public Library, Bondurant Community Library, Bondurant Farrar Morris Elementary, Bondurant Farrar Anderson Elementary, Bondurant-Farrar High School, Children & Families of Iowa, Class Act Productions, Community Youth Concepts, Southeast Polk Four Mile Elementary, Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, Southeast Polk Mitchellville  Elementary, Pursuit of Innovation (Pi515) and the Science Center of Iowa.
