Sundeep Vani joined Iowa State University in the newly-created role of chief technology officer for biobased products, the university has announced. As CTO, Vani will work with Biobased Product platform lead Brent Shanks and the Iowa Innovation Corp. to identify promising emerging technologies and develop them into commercial products. Vani has spent the last two years as an independent consultant advising venture capital firms, and has 21 years of experience in industrial biotechnology. Vani’s addition was assisted by a funding increase of $825,000 in fiscal year 2020 to ISU from the State Legislature in July 2019.
