Deere & Co. announced Feb. 24 the launch of a new office in Austin, Texas, where new tech hires including data scientists, data engineers, and computer vision and machine learning operations engineers will be able to collaborate. According to a release, the new office is part of a broader strategy to expand the company’s technology capabilities and expand and diversify its talent. The announcement came one day after the Moline, Ill.-based company’s annual shareholders meeting, where higher-than-expected first-quarter earnings and Deere’s strategic plans were highlighted, the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal reports. In addition to continued strategic focus on product autonomy, connectivity and sustainability, Deere leaders said building out the technology infrastructure in order to provide more advanced products is another element to the company’s overall strategy.
