The Iowa Economic Development Authority at its Friday meeting awarded Cedar Rapids-based nonprofit NewBoCo a $100,000 grant through the Entrepreneurial Investment Awards Program.

NewBoCo will use the grant to launch its Community Partners Pilot Program in Mason City and Mount Pleasant, which will work to fill gaps in the local entrepreneurial environment by combining NewBoCo programming and resources with each community’s expertise, partnerships and resources.

The funding will support the hiring of a community partnership program manager, DeltaV Code School courses for students in each area, diversity tuition awards and a local teaching assistant in each community. Mason City and Mount Pleasant will each contribute financially to the project as well.

The EIA program provides financial assistance to service providers that offer technical and financial assistance to entrepreneurs and startup companies seeking to create, locate or expand a business in Iowa.

More information on the award is available on Page 56 of the board packet posted online.
