The Iowa State University Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship, Small Business Development Center, and the Ames Chamber of Commerce will host the fall Smart Start Workshop, a comprehensive workshop focused on the essentials of starting a business. The workshop is a community-wide event open to existing business owners as well as anyone interested in or considering entrepreneurship. The event is split into two sessions, each led by local professionals and business owners. Attendees can attend one of two sessions or register for the full day. The first session is from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and the second is from 12:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. Session one will cover banking basics, insurance for small businesses, intellectual property, and operating a successful business. Session two will cover the legal aspects of running a business, accounting for small businesses, marketing your business, and business operations. Both sessions will be held at the ISU Research Park in Ames. The event is free to attend, but registration is required. More information is available on the event page.
