Educators in Cedar Rapids are testing a new reading screener and diagnostics tool that can change the way middle school students are supported in their reading skills, reports the Cedar Rapids Gazette. The Iowa Assessment of Skills and Knowledge platform – called iAsk – was developed by the Coralville-based Foundations in Learning specifically for grades 6, 7 and 8, where two-thirds of students are not proficient readers despite programs focusing on young children in kindergarten through third grade.
